When it comes to veterans, most of us have acknowledged what seems like a lack of care for our soldiers once they retire from duty. For some it’s worse than others, and this no doubt has something to do with community support. While being a veteran comes with many great benefits, some of them can still be offset by other factors of their socioeconomic status. Native Americans are one example, as they see obstacles that make it significantly harder to access healthcare and other resources.

The lack of a healthy, functioning, and attentive community is something that’s been cited as a contributing factor to higher rates of PTSD in veterans. Aside from more social safety nets for those in the worst living conditions, how could we better increase community support for veterans when they come home? What potential obstacles do you see to support being effectively provided and received?
